It's a Jeep thing…

While you don’t necessarily need a jeep to get there, it’s still awesome!! A geology professor at Utah Valley University told me the greatest chance of finding topaz is in the spring. Regardless of the season i can’t seem to find the evasive mineral anywhere but in under the sagebrush where other’s have walked past. Anyone been there? 4 millimeter long fragments in the stream-beds just aren’t as exciting… Anyway, I noticed some nearby trails that might be fun for a jeep… i’ll be testing them out next time I go.

Hobble Creek Canyon has beautiful scenery all year round, but it’s normally closed to public access during the winter. Fortunately for me, the unique dry circumstances of this year caused the forest service to leave “right hand fork” open late into the season.
